ISI Inspection Report 2010
We understand that choosing a school for your daughter can be a difficult decision. We encourage parents to visit the school in the first instance, to have a tour and meet the Headmistress or Head of the Junior School. You are welcome to visit us at any time.
We also offer Taster Days, where your daughter can spend a day in class to experience the warmth and friendliness of The Maynard environment and to find out what we have to offer.
To ensure that the school will suit your daughter, our application process involves a written assessment. We understand that for some girls, this may be their first experience of a formal assessment; we make the day as relaxed and enjoyable as possible and recommend girls spend the whole day with us, to combine an assessment morning with a Taster Session in the afternoon. Our experienced staff look for potential as well as current ability and we advise that coaching is not necessary.
The most common points of entry are at Years 3, 7 and 12. However, entry at any level of the school is welcomed where space allows. Application to The Maynard should be made on the Registration Form, which can be downloaded from this site and is also enclosed with the school prospectus. We will also request references and/or the most recent report from your daughter’s current school.
If you would like to discuss entry to the school for your daughter, request a prospectus, meet the Headmistress or arrange a Taster Day, contact our Admissions Office on 01392 355998 or email admissions@maynard.co.uk
We look forward to meeting you.
Entrance
With the exception of Sixth Formers, selection for entry is by written assessment.
Entrance Assessments can be arranged all year round, subject to places being available, although we do have set dates every January. The Assessment fee should be enclosed with the school Registration Form.
Once a place has been offered and accepted in both the Junior and Senior School, your daughter automatically has a place until the end of Sixth Form with no further qualifying assessments required. More information on The Maynard Entrance Assessments can be found in our Prospectus.
Offers of a place are made in writing as soon as possible after the entrance assessment has been taken. We would then ask parents to sign the accompanying acceptance form, having read the accompanying Terms & Conditions booklet and pay a registration fee which secures a place for your daughter.

Sixth Form Admission
We welcome new students into the Sixth Form at the beginning of Year 12. We are especially keen to meet motivated and committed young women who are keen to do well and who will contribute fully to the life of the school. If you want to find out more about the Sixth Form, or would like to meet the Head of Sixth Form, then please contact the admissions office who will be happy to help.
Our Sixth Form admission process involves completion of our school registration form and an interview with the Headmistress and Head of Sixth Form. We will also write to your daughter’s current school to request a reference, latest report and predicted GCSE grades. If we are then able to offer a place, this would be conditional upon your daughter gaining five or more C and above GCSE grades, including English and Maths. Please note that she must gain A or B grades in her chosen AS subjects.
We will invite your daughter to come along to our ‘Day in the life of a Sixth Form Student’ in November, which would give your daughter a valuable insight into life as a Maynard Sixth Former, through attendance of L6 lessons and meeting our staff and girls.
