The Ten Tors Challenge, organised by the British Army and held on Dartmoor each May, is widely regarded as one of the largest and most challenging events for young people nationally. Four hundred teams of six teenagers face hikes of 35, 45 or 55 miles over the rough terrain of Dartmoor, visiting ten nominated tors and check points in under two days.
If there is anything more important than the will to succeed, it is that the will shall not falter.

Ten Tors at The Maynard is managed by teacher Mr Tabb. Our teams take part in a number of training walks which are manned by an excellent and well-qualified volunteer team (comprising of current and past parents) so they are sufficiently fit and well prepared for the mammoth challenge ahead. It is a big commitment for the girls who will hike across Dartmoor, sometimes in the most hostile conditions, over numerous weekends in the build-up to the event itself.
Each year, lots of our students enter for the Ten Tors Challenge either as part of a Maynard team or with external teams and we have a tremendous success rate of completion, thanks largely to both their very superior training and their own typically Maynardian grit and resilience!
