International StudentsWe welcome International students to The Maynard to join all year groups. Close to the M5 and only 15 minutes away from Exeter International Airport, we are situated in the centre of Exeter, providing students with a wealth of cultural experiences, while our spacious grounds provide a tranquil environment in which to study.

As well as full time students, we also welcome girls to join us for shorter periods e.g. one term or one year, to experience the English way of life.

We are able to help International students to find a host family in the Exeter area who will welcome you as one of their family, providing you with accommodation and meals.

All of our students are encouraged to fulfil their potential by highly qualified and caring teachers, all of whom are prepared to "go the extra mile" when a student needs help. The range of extra-curricular activities on offer helps international students to integrate and play a full part in our multi-cultural community.

Recent international students have included girls from Germany and China and we would welcome the opportunity to widen the range still further. Choosing the right school for your education in England is an important decision and we will be pleased to help. Please contact the Admissions office for more information.

Tier 4 Visa Information

Immigration

Immigration control in the UK affects everyone who is not a British subject. The UK Border Agency is the Government Department responsible for determining who may enter the UK and for how long.

The Maynard School is a UK Border Agency Highly Trusted Sponsor.

Visas

If you are offered a place to study at The Maynard School and are from outside the European Union you are likely to have to apply for a Child Student Visa under Tier 4 before you can come to the UK and study at The Maynard. From 2009 the visa system for entry to the UK changed as part of the introduction of the Points Based Immigration System by the United Kingdom Border Agency.

The Maynard School is registered and licensed with the UK Border Agency to accept international students.

If you apply to The Maynard School, accept a place and pay two terms fees in advance, plus a registration fee and deposit, then we will request a CAS number from the UK Border Agency (UKBA), (not required if British passport holder or if you have a Tier 4 Dependents visa). This is a unique number and we will send it to you via a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) Certificate, as we are the sponsoring institution. This CAS Certificate has to be used as supporting evidence when applying for a child student visa and carries a points value.

My year at The Maynard
Valeska Franke"I decided to study a year abroad and since dreaming about going to England I started as a student at The Maynard School in Exeter. My first year abroad was a fantastic experience and a great opportunity for me to study the language and to learn about a new culture. Due to the warm welcome, the variety of new friends I gained during my year at The Maynard and the overall good atmosphere within the community of students and teachers I very much enjoyed studying here. Because of all this I even decided to go back to England to study another year abroad - this time as a law student at the University of Durham."

My time at The Maynard has given me some of my fondest memories since I set foot to this country 7 years ago. I was born in Guangzhou, China where I finished my primary and junior education. Then I did my GCSEs in North Devon and followed by that I joined The Maynard to do my A-levels. Having gained 4 As in A-level Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, I studied Mathematics at Imperial College London, from where I graduated with 2:1.

I felt warmly welcomed at The Maynard ever since I had my interview with the Headmistress. Despite many of the fellow students having grown up and studied together for more than a decade and I was new to the school, they kindly welcomed and accepted me, quite naturally, I became part of The Maynard.
