The Maynard School hosted a special concert by critically acclaimed musician Anna Markland on Saturday 6 March at 7.30pm.
The concert, which was enjoyed by many, included piano classics by Beethoven, Debussy and Rachmaninov, as well as a special performance of Mussorgsky’s exciting ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’. There was also a masterclass earlier in the afternoon offering budding pianists the chance to work with Anna and gain advice on technique.
Anna has been active in the classical music world for over twenty five years, with successful careers as a pianist, singer and piano teacher. She won the BBC TV ‘Young Musician of the Year’ competition in 1982 and was a student at Chetham’s School of Music, Worcester College, Oxford and the Royal Academy of Music.
The concert and master classes were a great success and Anna Markland gave a stunning performance.
