During February, L5 took part in an Aspire activity called ‘ Thinking about the future’. The girls were tasked with carrying out internet research into the world of work.
Lloyds TSB Local Hero Becky Brown
After an excellent athletics season in 2011, ranked 3rd in the UK for sprint hurdles, Becky Brown was nominated by UK Athletics to receive a SportsAid award.
Exciting Maths Challenges
The whole school with went Maths mad with World Maths Day on 7 March and Junior Problem Solving Day on 3 March!
Model United Nations Conference
Six students from The Maynard Sixth Form participated in the International Schools’ Model United Nations conference in Bath for the first time in early March.
Charity News
The students have been fundraising for Plan UK, the Bishop Simeon Trust and Help for Heroes.
World Book Day
The Senior School supported World Book Day on 1 March by busily decorating their form doors as their favourite book cover.
Writers’ Day
Students from our Years 5 and 6 joined up with their counterparts from Exeter Junior School to enjoy a wonderfully creative day learning about the craft of being a writer on 21 February.
Fairtrade Fortnight
On Monday 27 February Brian and Jane Inwood visited The Maynard to launch Fairtrade Fortnight at the school.
History Study Visit To Berlin
The History Department, along with twenty three of our Sixth Form, departed from school on the final Thursday of February half term to fly to Germany for our latest study trip.
