Senior School
My daughter's progress this year has been very encouraging and her teachers have been marvellous at furthering her interest in her subjects and making them come alive
Girls can enter the Maynard Senior School at any age from 11 to 16.
We are known for our outstanding academic achievements, and offer girls an exciting, stimulating working environment with a happy, relaxed atmosphere where every student excels at whatever they choose to do. Happy, successful, well-educated young women are the hallmark of The Maynard School.
From Years 7 – 9 (U3 – U4) all girls follow a three-year foundation course to provide breadth and balance whilst enabling each girl to develop her particular interests and talents. The curriculum is regularly reviewed to keep abreast of developments in national examinations, higher education and new technology.
In Years 10 and 11 (L5 and U5) students begin to specialise. All girls follow a programme of study leading to 10 GCSE’s plus an OCR National in ICT. GCSE subjects include Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Classical Greek, Drama, English Language, English Literature, Food & Nutrition, French, Geography, German, History, ICT, Latin, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Religious Studies & Spanish. Girls also follow a programme of non-examination lessons comprising Physical Education, Personal, Social & Health Education, Careers guidance, and Religious Studies/Ethics.
Life beyond the classroom through extra-curricular and community activities is an important part of school life for Maynard girls; all are encouraged to take part in a wide range of opportunities.
