Extra-Curricular Activities — Something for Everyone
Whether you want to trek Dartmoor, organise a fund-raising activity for charity, or play Baroque music, you can do it at the Maynard.
We believe in broadening the experience at school by a wealth of extra-curricular activities, which provide an important dimension to girls' lives, giving scope for further achievement and plenty of fun. Extra-curricular activities include: Athletics, Basketball, Biology Olympiad, Choirs, Community Volunteering, Dance Club, Debating, Duke of Edinburgh — Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, Fencing, Fitness Club, Fund-raising for Charities, Indoor Hockey, Instrumental Ensembles, Drama Clubs, Netball, Orchestras (Junior, Middle and Senior), Public Speaking, Self Defence, Speech and Drama, Aerobics, Swimming, Tennis, Ten Tors, UK Mathematical Challenge. We have a member of staff dedicated to setting up and promoting extra-curricular activity who will respond to requests from girls for a preferred activity, if it is not already offered by school. As many of our girls live some way from school and rely on public transport, the majority of our extra-curricular activities take place during the extended lunch break.
