Naomi Butterworth – ‘cello
Peter Adcock – piano
We are very excited to be welcoming our first string specialist to give a masterclass and recital on Saturday 27th November. Naomi Butterworth is professor of ‘cello at Trinity College of Music, London, and also teaches at the Royal Academy (where she was a scholar and award-winner) and Royal College of Music. She has played with many of England’s leading orchestras (including the C.B.S.O. and the Academy of St Martins-in-the-Fields) around the world. Her solo career has embraced numerous recitals and appearances countrywide. In the world of chamber music, she has performed and recorded extensively for the BBC and with ensembles including the Ambache Ensemble, Allegri Quartet and Dartington Trio, and appeared on television in the ground-breaking Tortelier masterclasses. Her teaching career spans from a popular private practice, through coaching musicians in the National Youth Orchestra and the Birmingham Conservatoire, to coaching chamber musicians and soloists both in England and the far East. She lived and worked in Exeter for many years where her children were educated, and now lives and works from her base in London. Her recital programme will include Rachmaninov’s magnificent ‘cello sonata.
