Following the highly successful Celebration of Art Exhibition in 2008, the Maynard School is delighted to announce that the Exhibition will be taking place for a second time this year, from 1 – 3 May 2010, with a private viewing from 6pm – 9pm on 30 April. This exciting exhibition promises to be bigger and better than ever, and will feature many different forms of art, including paint, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and photography.
All the works exhibited will be for sale, and the commission received by the School will be donated to a specific fund aimed at providing an art bursary for talented girls to join the Maynard at sixth-form level.
As well as featuring such important established artists as John Piper CH, Emrys Williams RA, Jacqueline Williams and Richard Pikesley, the Exhibition will also be a showcase for emerging talent. Sixth Formers and Year 11 (U5) students from schools and colleges across Devon will have the opportunity to take part in an Art Competition and compete to win £400 in prizes. Selected entrants will also have the opportunity to exhibit their work in the Exhibition.
All proceeds from the Exhibition will go towards providing an art bursary for talented girls to join the Maynard at sixth-form level.
The closing date for receipt of entries for the competition is 28 February 2010. Please call the Maynard School Marketing Office on 01392 273417 or email marketing@maynard.co.uk to request an application form. Alternatively you can visit the Maynard website to download a copy: www.maynard.co.uk.
