‘A CELEBRATION OF ART’ TAKES PLACE FROM SATURDAY 1 MAY – MONDAY 3 MAY

A Celebration of Art Update

Unfortunately due to a family bereavement, Simon Drew is no longer able to open the Art Exhibition on Friday 30 April. The exhibition will still feature several of his pieces of art, in addition to work from Will Ayres, Alan Cotton, Emrys Williams (RCA) and Ken Howard (RA), as well as over 60 other renowned artists. The exhibition will now be opened by local artist Katharine Lightfoot.

The Exhibition will also be a showcase for emerging talent. Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 students from schools and colleges across Devon have the opportunity to take part in an Art Competition and compete to win £400 in prizes, with Alan Cotton judging the competition on 28 April. The best twenty pieces will be on display at the Exhibition.

All works of art are for sale, and profits will support a new Art Bursary to make it possible for a talented student to attend The Maynard School.

Work will also be exhibited by the winners and runners up of the Devon years 10-11 & 12-13 Art Competition.

There will be a coffee shop open throughout the exhibition, serving drinks and light refreshments, and a Children’s Art Treasure Trail will be running over the three day period.

A Level Music Recital
Thursday 18 March, 7.30pm
An enchanting recital evening by A Level Music Students, including
performances by Florence Browne, Lucy Cross, Lola Tillson-Hawke, Kiri

Spring Concert
Thursday 25 March, 7.30pm
Young Musicians from The Maynard perform a delightful programme at this
year’s Spring Concert. With pieces ranging from Gershwin, Rossini and
Dvorak to Burt Bacharac and ABBA the evening promises to be
entertaining.
