Your daughter is invited to attend a morning workshop session and play performance by youth-led charity the Otesha Project UK, which focuses on promoting social and environmental sustainability.

The Otesha group is passionate about creating positive change. They are visiting the Maynard as part of their Summer 2010 Cycle Tour from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, when they will be stopping off at various schools and youth centres to deliver hands-on workshops and perform their powerful play.

The two workshops that the team will be delivering are:

DIY Ethical Fashion – This workshop aims to show participants that ethical fashion doesn’t have to involve ugly knitted jumpers! It will explore where our clothes come from and the conditions under which they were made, and how our personal choices can make a difference to sustainable fashion.

The Great Banana Chain Game – This workshop examines systems of production through role-play and explores how the consumption of an everyday product impacts other people and resources all over the world.

We have opened this event up to all students in L3, U3 and L4. Students are welcome to bring along friends and siblings in this age group and boys are also welcome to attend.

The play and workshops will take place on Friday 16 July and will be based in the Main School Hall. The format of the day will be the following:

9.30am Drop off and registration

10.30am Performance of play

11.45am Workshop 1

12.45pm Lunch break (please bring a packed lunch and drink)

2.00pm Workshop 2

3.00pm End of event – children are picked up
