The Maynard operates in excess of 60 extra-curricular clubs each week.
We believe that extra-curricular activities enable our students to develop interests and skills which will enrich their lives both during their school career and beyond. Not least, through such clubs and societies, life-affirming friendships and hobbies are born and we firmly encourage our girls to give everything a go!
However, whilst we expect every pupil to participate to some degree in the extra-curricular activities on offer, we also believe that they should not take on too many as this could demand too much of their free time.
We also recognise that some of our girls have commitments after school so, in order to maximise participation, the majority of our clubs and societies take place during lunchtime which is correspondingly long. There are, of course, a plethora of after-school activities and clubs on offer to cater for the modern day working family who are unable to collect their children at 4pm.
Clubs change according to the season but each term we provide a varied schedule including, for example, Tennis Coaching, Robot Club, Basketball, Book Club, many orchestras and musically themed activities, 5-a-side Football, TechFutureGirls, Hockey, Netball, Model United Nations, Greek Club, Fashion & Textiles, Card Club, Drama, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) … We could go on!
It is fair to say that the list is endless and the opportunities abound with something to suit everyone!
