Fees & Admissions Process

Pre-Prep, Junior & Senior School

From Reception to Year 5

Fees collected by The Maynard School:

• Registration: £240 inclusive of VAT
• Acceptance deposit: £7,750 inclusive of VAT (refunded during final term)
• Tuition fees (2025-2026): £23,250 per annum inclusive of VAT

This includes:

• 1 hour of EAL (English as an Additional Language) teaching; extra lessons will be provided at an additional cost if recommended.

From Year 6 to Year 11

Fees collected by The Maynard School:

• Registration: £240 inclusive of VAT
• Acceptance deposit: £9,547.20 inclusive of VAT (refunded during final term)
• Tuition fees (2025-2026): £28,641.60 per annum inclusive of VAT

This includes:

• 1 hour of EAL (English as an Additional Language) teaching per week; extra lessons will be provided at an additional cost if recommended.

Fees are due before the commencement of the school term to which they relate and should be paid in full.

Sixth Form

Fees collected by our International Consultancies:

Fees and rates for student homestay and guardianship should be discussed and arranged directly through our international consultancies, Gabbitas Education and Gateway Education.

Tuition fees (2025-2026): £28,641.60 per annum inclusive of VAT

This includes:

Travel on school transport between Exeter and Heathrow at the start and end of each term (Families will be notified of dates to book flights in advance).

Fees are due before the commencement of the school term to which they relate and should be paid in full.

Acceptance deposit: £480 inclusive of VAT (non-refundable)
Termly tuition fees (2025-26): £7,863.60 inclusive of VAT

Pre-Prep, Junior & Senior School

To apply for a place at The Maynard School you can either register with one of our consultancies or approach the school directly via our enquiry form or email.

We are happy to accept applicants throughout the school year and will indicate on our website when our international list is full.

We will consider all applications and a remote assessment will be required prior to being offered a place. If candidates are successful at these tests and a face-to-face or Teams interview, they will be offered a place at the school.

Sixth Form

To apply for a place at The Maynard School you can either register with one of our consultancies or approach the school directly via our enquiry form or email.

We are happy to accept applicants throughout the school year and will indicate on our website when our international list is full.

We will consider all applications, but we expect levels of English to be high (an IELTS score of 5.5 at 15.5 years old for example). We test English proficiency through online testing or school test papers if required. If applicants wish to study Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Maths, they may be required to take further tests to move through the application process. If candidates are successful at these tests and a face-to-face or Skype interview, they will be offered a place at the school.

What subjects can students study?

We are proud to offer an extensive range of subjects to cater for each individual’s talents and ambitions, including options beyond the standard offering such as Fashion & Textiles and Physical Education. Please see our full list of departments for more information.

What is homestay accommodation?

Our homestay accommodation for international Sixth Form students provides a ‘home away from home’ with a trusted, thoroughly vetted local host family. This comes with a lot of advantages:

Is there additional support for students whose first language is not English?

Yes – although we expect levels of English to be high upon application (an IELTS score of 5.5 at 15.5 years old for example), all international students also receive one hour of EAL (English as an Additional Language) teaching per week. Extra lessons will be provided at an additional cost if recommended.

What academic qualifications does The Maynard offer?

All students study GCSEs in Years 10 and 11 (Lower and Upper 5), and A-levels in the Sixth Form (with the option of also undertaking an Extended Project Qualification).

Is support available for students concerned about being away from home?

Yes! We are delighted to have truly excellent wellbeing provision, being the only school in Devon to have been twice awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools (in 2019 and again in 2023). Support is always available for international students who are settling in to this exciting new phase of their education: the Hub is open for students to talk to our amazing pastoral team, plus our exceptionally friendly environment means that new students feel right at home and often cannot be told apart from girls who have been here for years! Additionally, our trusted homestay families are incredibly supportive and understanding of the typical worries of their international guests.

What are the next steps?

The first thing to do is to get in touch with our Admissions Team and discuss when you would like your daughter to start with us. Following this, we will arrange interviews with the Head who can talk you through the next steps of the process, and thereafter arrange assessments.
