Partnerships & Outreach
Through the flourishing Maynard Partnership Programme, we work closely with local schools to create collaborative experiences that benefit pupils of all ages. In the past year alone, over 430 students from 24 local schools have taken part in a rich and varied programme, while our own students gain invaluable confidence and leadership through outward-facing engagement. From interschool STEM challenge days and the hugely popular Chiefs @ Maynard rugby masterclasses, to peer mentoring initiatives and university-led careers experiences such as Mock Trials, our outreach programme broadens horizons and makes a tangible difference to students from across the region.

Partnership Events
Mock Trial
Mock Trials welcome aspiring lawyers in the local area to put their skills to the test in a uniquely immersive experience of the courtroom, supported by experienced volunteers who already work in the field.
Girls Into STEM
Girls into STEM events are specially designed to give girls an opportunity to learn about and be inspired by all things STEM, setting new standards for female participation in science and technology. As well as a full day of hands-on activities, students listen to fascinating talks delivered by our highly successful alumnae working in STEM.
Discovery Morning
Discovery Mornings invite any girls – Maynardian or not – from pre-school through to Year 6 to take part in a host of fabulously fun activities! In the past, we have offered everything from slime-making and team games to biscuit decorating, a super sing-along and escape rooms!
Robotics Day
This event challenges Year 7 students to code a robot vehicle to carry out challenges, providing fun and hands-on insight into the practical applications of learning to code!
WorldWise Quiz
Local students in Year 8 and 9 join us for a quiz led by the Geographical Association, answering quickfire questions and learning about everything from volcanoes and fieldwork to the Global South and more.
Visits to The Lodge
We regularly visit our friends and neighbours at The Lodge Care Home. Our youngest students often practice reading with the residents, and older years perform concerts which always brighten everyone’s day! Also, visiting speakers from The Lodge have kindly shared their firsthand experiences of key historical events like World War II.
Structural Engineering Day
Our Structural Engineering Days combine creativity with STEM and ask students to design and build a scale model of a structure – in the past, this has been a concert venue! – using nothing but paper tubes, nuts, bolts, dowels and tape.
Chiefs at Maynard Rugby Festival
One of the absolute highlights of the sporting calendar, we invite young rugby enthusiasts from across the local area to take part in a first-class skills carousel and matches led by professional rugby players in the Exeter Chiefs Women’s Team.
Faraday Challenge
The IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) Faraday Challenge tasks Maynard and local teams to research, design and make a prototype solution to real-world engineering problems.
Mentoring Scheme
Our brilliantly successful Academic Mentoring Scheme matches our keen Sixth Formers with younger students taking GCSEs at other local schools (such as Cullompton Community College and Paignton Academy) for weekly mentoring sessions. This is a huge help for mentees and also a great way for Maynard students to consolidate their knowledge.
Forensic Days
Girls in Year 5 attend these fantastic workshops led by The Detective Project to learn about how crime is investigated in the 21st century, complete with fingerprinting, DNA and evidence collection activities!
Historical Association’s Great Debate
Students create a five-minute speech answering a set question, making use of research as well as historical arguments to put forward their point of view.
Primary Maths Challenge
Budding mathematicians go head-to-head in a series of fun rounds designed to test their knowledge of everything numbers!
