As one of the country’s first independent girls’ schools, founded in 1658, our founders were true pioneers in empowering young women from all backgrounds. They believed in equipping girls with knowledge and confidence, encouraging them to aspire, achieve and pursue their ambitions without limit. That same ethos remains at the heart of The Maynard today. We are proud to offer outstanding teaching and exceptional pastoral care, fostering not only academic excellence but also character. We nurture girls to be confident, resilient and fearless, with the aim of making a Maynard education accessible to the brightest and most promising girls, whatever their background.
No one can explain it better than the girls themselves who have benefited:
When I found out I was lucky enough to receive the Maynard Bursary. I had no idea how transformative it would be. And I wish nothing more than for other students to have the same experiences that I did.
Katie, Bursary recipient
I really see the moment I was invited to attend The Maynard with a bursary as a complete fork in the road of my life… All of these opportunities suddenly opened up for me that I did not think were going to be possible before.
Izzie, Bursary recipient
It was a really pivotal moment when I then realised that I would be able to go to a Sixth Form school that would encourage and help me to one day become a doctor, and that is ultimately what The Maynard helped me to do.
Lisbeth, Bursary recipient
