Posted on August 21, 2025

We are delighted to share that our brilliant Year 11 (Upper 5) students have once again excelled, delivering some incredibly strong GCSE results that far outweigh the national averages on every level. This year:

  • Over a quarter of all results (25.1%) were given the ultimate Grade 9
  • 54.3% of grades were 8s & 9s
  • 75.2% of all GCSE grades were at Grades 9–7 (equivalent to A*–A)

“I couldn’t be prouder of the girls,” said Liz Gregory, Head. “These are exceptional results that reflect their unwavering focus, hard work and resilience. It’s also a testament to our community of teachers and staff who nurture such a supportive, happy and ambitious environment.”

Spotlight on Our Students

Olivia achieved a clean sweep of Grade 9s and was utterly relieved when she opened her results, saying: “I was definitely hoping for all 9s, but I was actually a bit worried about a couple so I’m really, really pleased.” She hopes to study Medicine, following in her grandfather’s footsteps, and has chosen Biology, Chemistry andMaths as her A-level subjects.

Arianne was equally thrilled with her seven 9s and two 8s: “I’m feeling super happy. I wasn’t expecting these grades for some of the subjects. I was so nervous this morning and the car drive here was horrible!” Arianne is pursuing a career in Medicine or Dentistry: “It’s a fascinating career,” she says.

Another overjoyed student is Merrie, who achieved all 8s and 9s with one 7: “I’m feeling ecstatic and I’m super happy. It just shows that hard work can pay off!” Looking ahead, Merrie hopes to study Biology in America, believing she’ll gain a broader education abroad and greater life experience, adding “and it’s an adventure!”

Likewise, Jemima B incredible results with a string of 9s, 8s and 7s, putting her on course to achieve her career ambition to work with animals: “I honestly was so nervous, but this is such a huge surprise, and I am so happy.”

Jemima C secured straight 9s and 8s: “I’m so excited but also quite relieved. In the back of my mind, I was really hoping for these results as I knew all along what I was good at, and what I would need to have to work harder at during my revision.” Jemima plans to take Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English Literature at A-level with the ambition to study Medicine: “My parents are both in the medical field, I loved my work experience and I’m really into science, so it seems the obvious choice!”

Huge congratulations to all our amazing Upper 5s – we couldn’t be prouder of you all and every single one of you has an outstandingly bright future to look forward to! Our heartfelt thanks to all the families, teachers and everyone in the wider Maynard community for making this yet another exceptional year!
