Our amazing Year 6s joined forces with other Year 6 students from St Leonard’s Primary School and St Michael’s Primary School for a unique hands-on day of engineering on Monday!
Held at The Maynard, led by structural engineers and supported by all female engineering university students and graduates, a total of around 100 girls took part in a thrilling challenge to design and construct a model music venue, primarily using nothing but paper. The final product had to be large enough for the team to sit inside and able to support weight – no easy feat, but each group threw themselves into the task with gusto and put together some absolutely fantastic and wonderfully creative models!
It was a delightful introduction to the world of engineering, combining problem-solving and teamwork with artistic flair. What an inspiration for girls to see themselves as future engineers, innovators and scientists, empowering the next generation of women in STEM!
