We are bursting with pride for our Sixth Form STEM extraordinaires who, on Saturday, shot for the stars and WON the UK Space Design Competition regional round, securing a Maynard spot at the National Finals for the second year in a row!
The group worked with two other schools in a team called ‘Condor’ to design a spacecraft to transport cargo across the solar system, cleverly blending existing technology from the International Space Station with cutting-edge innovations. They were fantastic as a team and all worked incredibly hard to finalise their design; then, to clinch the win, they delivered a superb presentation and handled the judges’ questions with confidence and clarity.
What a brilliant weekend all round, made even better for seeing Maynard Class of 2025 leavers Nandipa (a member of last year’s team who was selected for the international round in the summer) and Victoria who volunteered to help run the competition!
Huge, huge congratulations to everyone who took part, and we wish them the very best of luck for the exciting next steps on their space design journey – the National Finals at Imperial College London in March!
