30 of our brilliant linguists in Upper 3 to Upper 4 (Years 7-9) have just returned from a fantastic 5-day French adventure based near Saint-Omer!
Their itinerary was absolutely packed, from a visit to a traditional French bakery to learn about the country’s famous pastries and practicing their French skills at the bustling market in Le Tourquet, to touring the impressive Nausicaá Centre National de la Mer (Europe’s largest marine centre) and discovering the fascinating inner workings of a chocolaterie. To broaden the experience even further, they also crossed into Belgium to visit Bruges, where they took part in a waffle-making workshop and a scenic canal cruise through this beautiful UNESCO-listed city.
And a trip to France isn’t complete without sampling the food! From crêpes enjoyed at a favourite spot of Emmanuel Macron in Le Touquet, to artisanal ice creams and even escargots (which prompted some memorable reactions!), the culinary experiences were just as rich as the linguistic ones.
Mme Smith, Mrs Finnegan and Miss Blackwell were incredibly proud of the group, who proved themselves to be outstanding ambassadors and made the most of every opportunity to practice their French. What a fabulous trip!
