Huge congratulations go to four Upper 4 (Year 9) students who represented The Maynard at the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival Spoken Word event last week!
This annual celebration of poetry invites students from East Devon schools to participate in an all-day poetry-writing workshop before performing their original poetry to the public. The day was led by the inspirational Chris White and Rebecca Tantony of Exeter-based ‘SPORK!’, who introduced the students to a range of poetry by different writers before guiding them to write their own pieces.
Amelia, Sylvie, Isla and Ada worked both independently and in small groups to compose several poems from scratch, before performing their excellent compositions with clarity and expression. A massive well done to them for such a brilliant day!
