Forest School Sessions for Pre-Schoolers
Our Forest School sessions for Pre-Schoolers are starting again on Tuesday 27 February 2018 and will run for 5 weeks up to Easter.
Our Forest School is situated on site here at The Maynard in a safe and compact area specifically adapted to suit the needs of every little explorer! Sessions will be run by Mrs Davey, our trained Forest School Leader, and will take place whatever the weather.
Sessions are child-led and involve a lot of exploring and discovering nature, as well as activities such as helping to build a fire and using simple tools and natural materials for craft activities. We also take part in group stories and games, and there will be lots of hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows to keep us warm!
In the summer term we will be running other activities for Pre-Schoolers, so please keep an eye out for details.
Forest School Sessions for our Pupils
Outdoor learning has an extremely positive impact on children’s development, and being able to explore the great outdoors develops their social skills as well as their long term physical and emotional development.
At The Maynard we hold regular outdoor learning sessions, enabling our pupils to understand and embrace nature and the outdoors in a world that is increasingly consumed by digital technology.
All our Pre-Prep and Junior School pupils take part in weekly Forest School lessons in either the spring or summer terms as part of the curriculum, which are run by our trained Forest School Leader Mrs Davey.
Senior School pupils will also have the opportunity for regular outdoor learning in this fantastic space.
