About the role

This role is to teach our newly formed Reception class, providing excellent learning opportunities, taking a full part in the life of the school and building good relationships with current and prospective parents. With the Pre-Prep still in its early stages, there is plenty of opportunity for the successful candidate to make their own mark on this post, and whilst being well supported, there is scope for initiative and creativity.

If you have any queries regarding the role, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Lora Jones, Head’s PA by telephone: 01392 273417 or e-mail: HeadsPA@maynard.co.uk.

Why join our Pre-Prep Department?

We have an incredibly warm and dynamic staff with a huge passion for teaching. The Pre-Prep department is only in its second year and currently consists of four members of staff who believe in working collaboratively to ensure the very best outcomes for our students.

At these very early days of school life, we believe that instilling a love of learning is every bit as important as the subjects we teach! We aim to set up a ‘home from home’ where students can flourish. Every family and every child is a unique package, and with our small class sizes, exceptional resources and experienced teachers, we are confident that we provide the best offer available.

As an all-girls school our pupils can play in a carefree manner without being pushed to the corners of the playground by a game of football or cricket. Girls learn differently and in the classroom they are free to express themselves and be heard. Here at The Maynard, we pride ourselves on the fact that girls can take the lead and be as strong and independent in their play as they are in their learning.

Being confident and happy is essential to our girls’ ability to learn and our vision for the Pre-Prep is driven by our desire to share in the unique learning journey of each individual who comes into our classrooms.

In the Pre-Prep we provide our pupils with a varied and interesting learning environment, and offer a carefully balanced curriculum. There are specialist areas to enable creative learning and an outside classroom giving plenty of scope for all-weather outside learning and play. We have specialist teaching for PE, Swimming, ICT, Music and French. All of our Pre-Pre-pupils take part in weekly Forest School sessions in the summer term.

Alongside the bespoke care and attention we give to our girls is the excellent communication we have with parents. Staff are available for a chat before and after school in person, via appointment or by phone or email. We also have regular parent meetings and curriculum evenings. In addition, we use the Tapestry Online Learning Journey for our Reception class which allows us to keep a record of every pupil at key points in her learning.

At The Maynard, we follow the Thrive approach to help our pupils develop into healthy, happy, confident children. Thrive has been developed to help us better understand children’s behaviour and what it signals about their emotional development. It is aimed at developing children who are ready for and open to learning.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a top independent girls’ day school with a long tradition of academic excellence and a commitment to developing each learner to their full potential.

The Maynard has its own Salary Scale.
