Awards, Scholarships & Fees Assistance

Fees assistance at The Maynard School takes two forms: Means-tested Bursaries, based on parental income, and Awards or Scholarships which are awarded to girls who are academically exceptional, have particular talents in Music, Sport, Art or Performing Arts, or are all-rounders who contribute significantly to school life.

Means-Tested Support

If your daughter would benefit from the educational experience at the Maynard School, but your family is not in a position to cover the full fees, she may well be eligible for a means-tested bursary. A bursary is calculated by the Finance Office and can account for up to a 45% reduction in fees according to parental income, but as a general guide, a family with a combined income of over £50,000 is unlikely to be considered. Applicants will be asked to submit evidence of income and other financial information. This will be reviewed annually and continue through your daughter’s time at the school, including the Sixth Form. Please email [email protected] if you require a bursary application form.

Maynard Awards

The Maynard Award Programme is an initiative which mirrors the strong ethos of The Maynard School – that an excellent education should be accessible to the most talented and gifted girls, regardless of household income. A Maynard Award offers the opportunity for successful applicants to join the school at a significantly discounted rate.

Scholarships

At The Maynard School we offer a range of Scholarships to reflect academic, sporting, musical or creative talent. These are worth 10% of tuition fees.

Scholarships are awarded to talented girls who will make an outstanding contribution to the school. Scholarship applications for both our current students and external applicants who are joining Year 7, Year 9 (external applicants only), or Sixth Form should be submitted during the Autumn Term of their Year 6 or Year 11. Scholarships are conditional upon the recipient’s active and full participation in appropriate academic, sporting, musical or creative activities at the school.

11+ and 13+ Scholarships for entry into the Senior School in Upper 3 (Year 7) and Upper 4 (Year 9)

Selection for an 11+ or 13+ Academic Scholarship will be purely based on the Entrance Assessment.

Further 11+ and 13+ Scholarships are available to external candidates for Sport, Music, Drama and Art.

For Sport, Music, Drama and Art, selection will be based on an interview and, where relevant, an audition. Candidates are encouraged to put together a portfolio to illustrate their achievements to date.

Application forms will be available in the autumn of 2022.

16+ Scholarships are available to Internal & External Candidates for the following:

Upper 4 Exhibitions

We offer Exhibition Awards to any Lower 4 student who has shown particular talent and commitment in Art, Sport, Drama or Music. Exhibitions will take effect from the beginning of the academic year and will be valid until the end of the Sixth Form (Year 13). An Exhibition comes with a £150 annual fund to be spent on equipment, workshops, books or anything else that will enhance progress in the specific area of talent.

If students would like to be considered for an Exhibition Award, they should approach the subject teacher during the Autumn or Spring Term of Lower 4 to discuss.
