Hi and a big welcome to the Maynard Parents Association (MPA)!
The MPA is a Charitable Trust which seeks to raise additional funds for the school. We have two main fundraising events during the year, the Christmas Fair in the Autumn Term and the Quiz Night in the Spring Term. Both are great fun and the latter gives you the opportunity to pit your skills against the Headmistress’s Team, what more could you want? On top of this we also run smaller events throughout the year. With the funds we have raised over the last year, amongst other things, we have been able to buy a Steinway Piano for the Performing Arts Centre.
As well as raising funds we also aim to create a vibrant parent community, encouraging parents/guardians to get together socially. Each year group has at least one MPA Class Representative who facilitates social contact within their year group. This can be anything from a meet up for coffee, to family picnics or indeed family days out.
The MPA uses Classlist to communicate with parents. This is a free App which provides a secure, way for parents at the school to keep in contact with each other, stay informed about what’s happening within the MPA, find out who is your Class Representative and much more. The school site is entirely private and all members are authenticated by the school. We strongly recommend that parents join up via www.classlist.com
The committee is made up of nine committed parents who meet up once a term with an Annual General Meeting in early September. The Headmistress attends these meetings and we make decisions about future fundraising events and look at the best way to spend the funds we have raised. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend these meetings and we would encourage you to come along. The dates can be found on Classlist and are published in the school calendar.
We are always looking for fresh new fundraising ideas and enthusiastic parents to join us. If you would like to get involved, your help would be much appreciated.
