Brilliant Upper Sixth (Year 13) biologists had a fascinating workshop at science and arts centre We The Curious in Bristol last week! Their Biology A-level includes learning about all things DNA, so this trip was designed to be the perfect opportunity to dive deeper into the topic by conducting polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and gel electrophoresis experiments.
To say they enjoyed the outing was an understatement – “it was our favourite school trip we’ve been on!” reported back Martha and Ellie. “What we did on the trip is also one of our upcoming core practicals so it was really beneficial for us to get a hands-on understanding. We also got to look around at lunch at all the interactive science things, and the exhibits covered everything from psychology to physics and biology as well. It was all so interesting!”
