Sixth Form International Students

We welcome girls from all over the world to join The Maynard Sixth Form. International students join us in the Lower 6 (at 16+) and are fully integrated into the life of the school.

Situated in the centre of the historic university city of Exeter, close to the M5 and only just over 2 hours by train to London, we are only 15 minutes away from Exeter International Airport. The beautiful beaches of the South West are only 20 minutes away where surfing, sailing and watersports can be enjoyed at weekends. The open spaces of Dartmoor and Exmoor, as well as the cultural experiences associated with a university town (and the great shopping!), can all be enjoyed by Maynard girls, together with the school’s spacious grounds which provide a tranquil and safe environment in which to study.

HOMESTAY AND GUARDIANSHIP

The Maynard is a day school, and our international pupils are placed with our trusted and experienced homestay families. Our homestay scheme is managed by Global International Student Management consultancies Gabbitas Education (for Hong Kong) and Gateway Education (for mainland China).

The wellbeing, happiness and security of all our pupils is our number one priority and we keep in regular contact with our international girls to ensure that they are happy within their host family placement.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

To apply for a place at The Maynard School you can either register with one of our consultancies, or approach the school directly.

We are happy to accept applicants throughout the school year and will indicate on our website when our international list is full.

We will consider all applications, but we expect levels of English to be high (an IELTS score of 5.5 at 15.5 years old for example). We test English proficiency through online testing or school test papers if required. If applicants wish to study Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Maths, they may be required to take further tests to move through the application process. If candidates are successful at these tests and a face-to-face or Skype interview, they will be offered a place at the school.
