The Maynard Wine Gums team of Miri Cooper Wedge, Bella Brent, Kitty Guinness, Anna Harries and Anya Hitt (all in the Upper 4) enjoyed a truly successful outing to the Animal Allies FIRST Lego League regional tournament at the HP labs in Bristol on Thursday 12 January 2017.
FIRST LEGO League challenges young people to think like scientists and engineers whilst investigating solutions to real life problems. A core part of the Project asks participants to build, test and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game.
Despite a wobbly start, when Sir Killalot the robot almost lived up to his name, The Wine Gums performed brilliantly to become runners-up in the competition and bag a place at the National Finals on Sunday 26 February 2017.
