Exeter Jobs for the Girls’ Careers Fair
The news and updates we receive keep the School in touch with the remarkable range of careers entered into by former Maynard pupils, and this has inspired us to organise a Girls’ Careers Fair for girls from all the local schools. While many Maynard alumnae have chosen not to enter traditionally ‘female’ careers, women are still under-represented in so many fields, and we thought it was time for the Maynard to take the lead in encouraging girls from across Exeter to bridge the gender divide, an endeavour in which we are strongly supported by our colleagues in the city’s State and Independent schools. We held the first Fair last year, when we welcomed an inspirational group of women (who work in fields ranging from engineering to economics, via the armed forces, business, and science) and the next fair will be held on Thursday 14 October 2010.
Sixth Form and Recent Leavers Reception
We are hosting a drinks reception for sixth formers and recent leavers on Thursday 16 September 2010 from 6pm-8pm in the Main School Hall
We hope that this informal event will give our new sixth formers and 2010 leavers the chance to learn about the realities of A-Levels and University life, and to develop their networking skills, as well as being an opportunity to catch up with the classes of 2007, 2008 and 2009, and to find out what they have been doing since they left us.
Girls entering the Lower and Upper Sixth in September and all our recent leavers should have received an invitation by email, and our apologies to any of you who have not yet been formally invited. If you would like to come to the reception, please let us know by emailing alumnae@maynard.co.uk.
Old Maynardian Society AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Old Maynardians’ Society will be held on Saturday 9 October 2010 at 11.00am. Coffee will be served from 10:30am. The AGM, followed by lunch, will take place in the Main School Hall.
This is another particularly important AGM, as we will be taking forward the process of the Old Maynardians’ Society becoming a registered charity in its own right.
