All 25 complete gruelling Ten Tors challenge

Posted on May 13, 2019

We are delighted that all 25 of our students who took part in the legendary Ten Tors Challenge over the weekend of 10 – 12 May 2019 successfully completed their various routes. Historically, The Maynard is a massive advocate of Ten Tors and this year was no exception with two teams embarking on the 35-mile challenge, a further two on the 45-miler and one girl who joined another team for her 45-mile trek. Without exception, they all were fabulous, finishing in astonishingly good times amidst a sea of smiles – their own and those of a large support party including parents, staff members and the Headmistress, Miss Dunn, who hasn’t yet missed a Ten Tors in over two decades!

Our thanks to Mr Tabb, Miss Dunn and the army of other volunteers who have been integral in preparing the girls throughout the winter months with the necessary training. Not to mention their hearty breakfast of “decidedly stodgy” porridge and bacon butties on Saturday morning which certainly set all the girls off sustained and ready for the challenge ahead!
